Vase with handles
Jacques Blin
France 1960
Important vase with handles decorated with female characters in blue and black enamelled ceramic by Jacques Blin, France 1960. This tapered vase is decorated with a frieze at the top.
The creations of Jacques Blin (1920-1995) are characterized by hand-engraved patterns. He practices the intaglio method, sgraffito style before firing, then he applies a glaze of enamels colored with metallic oxides during a second firing.
Marble effect background colors typically use blue, celadon, parma, orange, or white. They bring out the thick lines of engraved and blackened designs. He received the Grand Prix Bernard Palissy in 1958, the Gold Medal at the International Ceramics Exhibition in 1962.
